Theater & Fun!
Fort Rob 2010
Our trip to the Fort Robinson Post Playhouse was a success! 19 of us made the journey and we had a great time! We saw 2 shows - The Pump Boys and Dinettes, which was more of a musical revue than a play. The singing was incredible. It was quirky and cute; one of my favorite songs was "Farmer Tan"!

The second show was "The Wizard of Oz". It was very interesting to see someone else do a show that we did so recently. The overall feel of the group seemed to be that there were sections they really liked, and then sections that we felt we did better. Which is quite a complement to our club, in my opinion. :-)

Between shows we had some time to eat at the Fort's cafe and to roam about the grounds. Some of us went Geocaching (take a look at geocaching.com if you don’t know what that is) and found 18 caches for the day.

All in all it was a fantastic day for our entire club to spend time together, and a great way for the Platte County Players to help promote theater education!

2010-2011 WHS Drama Club Season Announced!
It's official! Merlin announced the WHS Drama Club's 2010-2011 Season! This fall they will be performing "Becoming Memories" by Arthur Giron.  This is a series of vignettes that paints a portrait of small town America from 1911 to the present. The kids will be taking sections of this performance to the State Drama Competition to defend thier 2009 State Champion title!

Then, we will get the opportunity to see our young people grow in thier overall theater skills. WHS Juniors and Seniors will be presenting student directed one act plays.

Finally, the spring show this year will be "Of Mice and Men" by John Steinbeck. This of course is the tragic story of George Milton and Lennie Small, two displaced migrant ranch workers during the Great Depression in California.

Save the Date!
Nov 18-20 - Becoming Memories
TBA Febuary - Student directed one-acts
Mar 31 - Apr 3 - Of Mice and Men

Post Playhouse/Fort Robinson Trip
Pump Boys is one of the shows we will be seeing Aug 14.
We are planning our annual trek to Kalyn's homeland.... Nebraska!

20 of us are headed to the Post Playhouse August 14th to see "Pump Boys" and "The Wizard of Oz".  Yes, you heard right, the drama kids haven't had enough of the wiz, they want to compare and see what other artists have done with it.  Very open minded of them isn't it!

Keep checking, we will post a scrapbook of the trip when we get home!  Wish the chaperones luck!
